The Oil Drum was recently ranked by Nielsen as the #4 sustainability site on the web (behind TreeHugger, WorldChanging, and Biopact). Biopact has a nice article on the report, which can be found here and from which the graphic below is duly appropriated.

The takeaway message: we have far to go with regard to making real progress on sustainability, folks. However, it is nice to see that our community is contributing in a small part. Keep it up. The more people who get the message, the more reason we have to be "sustainable," the more of a chance we have of lessening the pain. I'm not saying that I'm overly optimistic, but I'm saying that we have to continue to try to make the world a little bit better of a place. Thanks for helping us do so.
Below the fold is a link to the webinar and the report itself.

Just a reminder that the Worldchanging Book tour is continuing in New York City tomorrow night at 6:30pm with a panel discussion at the Urban Center titled: "WorldChanging: Models, Tools and Ideas for Creating a Sustainable Future".
It should be a great place to learn more about local solutions to our unfolding energy and environmental crises.
And then on Wednesday at 7pm at All Souls Unitarian Church (80th Street and Lexington Avenue) please come if you can to the Upper Green Side Meeting where Ben Jervey, author of The Big Green Apple will speak about the new generation of urban environmentalists.

One of my favorite websites, Worldchanging is building out it's local sites. When I'm not here at TOD NYC, Upper Green Side or Streetsblog I will no doubt be over at Worldchanging:NYC. Over there you will see how the environmental/sustainability movement has changed from a bunch of hippies on an organic farm (not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's your thing) to a modern, sustainable design-oriented folks that leverage all the resource saving environmental advantages of the dense urban environment and modern technology. Here is there motto:
Worldchanging was founded on the idea that real solutions already exist for building the future we want. it's just a matter of grabbing hold and getting moving.
They are also going to be here a few times this month promoting their new book.
